Hello, I’m Rachel, creator of Little Miss Drop Stitch and I am crackers about crafting. It makes me incredibly happy: the colours, textures, finished product. Every day I am consumed by new products, inspiration and making. For over a decade, my main interests have been knitting, crochet and sewing. After some questionable cross stitch, my mum taught me how to use her very old sewing machine and when this gave up the ghost, I received a sewing machine for Christmas. All the sewing projects are made with that very machine and I am still learning new things and exploring new attachments.
Fabric is very pretty, but those who know me would say I have an obsession with yarn. I taught myself to knit and crochet aged 13 and 14, respectively. I went on a knitting holiday to Norway this year and now have a hunger for exploring international yarn and styles. I just love that I will never know everything and crafting allows you to learn new skills each time, at your own pace.
Paper is also pretty, so I will be delving into digital cutting and paper crafts also. My focus at the moment is completing the projects I have in and afterwards it will be a big scrappy project adventure with the leftovers: that goes for fabric, yarn and paper.
Hard to believe, but there is a human inside of me that does detach from crafts. If I’m not clicking my needles, then I am enjoying being in nature and walking along the canal. Rainy walks are my favourite. My Mate, Obi, joins me in the day job as I work from home. He is my brother’s Labrador and I’m sure he’ll be getting lots of bandanas and toys along the way.
