It’s time for another crafty travel blog. Last weekend, I went to a yarn shop which has recently opened in Horwich (opposite Poppins’ Team Room). I went in force with my five other woolly friends. Below is lovely Jacqui who kindly let me put her on the website.
There isn’t actually a sign above the shop, however, I spotted there is one in the window. I believe this was previously a yarn shop that closed and has recently opened up again with a new owner. It is called Kimberley’s Krafts, Wool and Haberdashery. Read on to see how the haberdashery section does not disappoint!
The person serving was the owner and she was so approachable to as questions and got stuck into our project ideas. She helped Ruth with the yarn and notions needed to start sock knitting and the lady also answered my questions on how to use these fabulous ‘craft buttons’.

The shop stocks the big brands, which are predominantly acrylic, however, I spied some lovely wool mixes. The stock covered a variety of yarn weights and Jacqui bought some James C Brett Marble chunky in a turquoise shade .
The haberdashery section was huge and well worth a look at. Furthermore, I was all over the trimmings, especially the elasticated sequins. If I had a project in mind, or a 1920s party to go to, I would have purchased this. Alas the good behaviour ceased and I bought some unusual lace binding, with no project in mind! The lady serving said it can be used for bunting too and you just slot your flags inside.

Another section I was ‘wowed’ by is the buttons. I especially loved the Christmas buttons and wished they made them in adult sizes! I would shamelessly rock those gingerbreads on a cardigan.

Kimberley’s Krafts, Wool and Haberdashery is well thought out to offer a huge variety of crafts and supplies in a small-ish space. So, if you are near to Horwich I would recommend a trip. Support your local wool shop: use it or lose it!
After Kimberley’s we went for Christmas afternoon tea and it really is special to be friends with other crafters. I thought I would leave you with a scrumptious picture of some chocolate muffins I made on Sunday. No chocolate was spared!
Take care, Rachel G x
